What the extension reads
When you ask it to tidy a transcript, the extension reads the caption track or visible transcript on the current YouTube or TED page. It does not read captions in the background.
Where transcript text goes
Parsing, paragraph reflow, search, and export happen on your device. Transcript text is stored only in browser extension storage for the active reader and, for Plus users, the local shelf. We do not receive or host it.
Licenses and payments
If you buy Plus, Sociobot/Dodo processes checkout as merchant of record. We store your license token and a cached verification result in your browser. Verification sends only that token to the Sociobot billing API; no transcript text is included.
Analytics and third parties
There are no advertising, behavioural analytics, remote fonts, or third-party runtime scripts. The site may use privacy-respecting aggregate server page counts supplied by hosting; the extension sends none.
Your controls
Remove local transcript data by clearing the extension’s site data or uninstalling it. Clear the site’s saved license through your browser’s local-storage controls.
